Watch out for the Hawks!

I've busted on them repeatedly, each time well deserved.

Mike Woodson is one of the worst coaches in the league and Billy Knight is 2nd worst, better than only Isiah Thomas.

Nevertheless, with the acquisition of Shelden Williams via the draft and the Speedy Claxton pickup today, Atlanta is a much improved team. My early prediction is to take Atlanta over next year, though I need to see the exact number before making that official.

Presently, Atlanta's roster includes Claxton, Lue, Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Childress, Za Za, Shelden, Marvin Williams and Salim Stoudamire.

That's 9 at least decent players, barring injury. More bigs are needed to ensure a 35-win season.

I'm jumping on the Hawks bandwagon early.

Though unable to acquire players with 1+ years left on their contract - which would affect them a lot if Za Za or Shelden go down - I still like the Hawks to show improvement this season. Harrington posted nice numbers last season but repeatedly held onto the ball for 10 seconds without moving it around. He's a good player off the bench for a good team, not a bad team boat guy.
